What is the best way for strata buildings to communicate with apartment tenants and apartment owners?

Hi Every building should be asking this question, and every strata manager should be testing and trying ways to solve this common problem. Cause let’s be serious putting a notice up has been around for hundreds of years surely there are better ways to communicate a message at the right time with the world of technology maybe we need to be moving towards SMS messages or maybe Facebook Messenger.

If you find yourself in a position where signage is my most effective way to communicate a message. Here are a few simple rules to remember when using signage to communciate a message in your building.

  • Put the sign where people stop and wait (eg in a lift, at the roller door, in the bin room)
  • Only share one message at a time If there are too many messages people won’t be able to read and remember them.
  • Keep the message short and to the point do not use any words you don’t have to
  • Keep it to Simple English (no jargon)
  • Remeber the why you must explain why people should follow the notice include a benefit for them
  • Only keep signage on your noticeboard for the shortest amount of time to reach all people in the building (probably one to 2 weeks)
